Fertilizing

We recommed fertilzing the soil prior to laying your sod with a 20 Pound Bag (21-7-14) of Lawn Food Fertilizer you can purchase at your local Big Box Retailer. We recommend fertilizing at a rate of 10 pounds per 1000 square feet. We recommend fertilizing before you install your sod.

In the summer you should fertilize every 6 to 8 weeks and during the winter months you should fertilize every 8 to 10 weeks.

When fertilizing your lawn, it's so important to water immediately after you fertilize, if you don't water immediately, you can "burn" or "kill" the grass.

The first 3 days after fertilizing you should water your grass 3 times a day for 8 to 12 minutes. Good times throughout the day are 7 am, 11 am and 3 pm. Tnen go back to your regular watering schedule. You should see results in about a week.

Don't ever put any weed/feed killer on your grass at any time, it will only kill your grass along with the weeds. And never use a pre-emergent.

Some of the products available at big box retailers say they won't kill the grass. However, in our unique desert climate, with grasses that we sell, they're totally different than the grasses in other parts of the country.

If you're grass is kept healthy and strong, it literally "chokes" out the weeds.
